The First 90 Days® Workshops

Leaders need support as they enter a new role. If you are considering an in-person workshop, Genesis Advisers has your solution. For almost 20 years, Genesis Advisers has designed and delivered workshops for leaders based on The First 90 Days Transition Roadmap® framework. We offer standard and customized options that can be delivered stand-alone, or blended with existing onboarding, new manager or new leader programs.

Overview

Moving rapidly and successfully into a new role is a skill that can be learned. The Genesis Advisers First 90 Days Workshops teach transitioning skills in a workshops that facilitates the creation of a First 90 Days Plan. Leaders gain confidence as they work through the First 90 Days Transition Roadmap Framework, created by Dr. Michael Watkins, establishing a solid foundation of the skills and proven techniques for getting new leaders off to a great start.

Our popular, One-Day First 90 Days Workshop can be enhanced by delivery over a two-day period. The additional day allows participants will create their First 90 Days plan at the same time that they learn or refreshed the competencies required to make their transition a success.

Getting Started

Our workshops are launched with access to our First 90 Days Resource Portal, through which participants can access readings, videos, and launch tools to support the early stages of their transitions.

The Portal is designed to support motivated learners immediately, before the workshop with materials they can use to launch their learning journeys.

Workshops are delivered to cohorts of 12-16 leaders at a similar level. Participants are ideally 1 – 3 months into their role so they have knowledge to apply during the workshop.

1-Day Workshop

Participants learn to avoid classic traps and manage transition challenges. They diagnose their situations, define their challenges, and design First 90 Days transition plans using the proven First 90 Days Transition Roadmap Framework. The results are accelerated learning, better connection with key stakeholders, and greater momentum in their new roles.

During the workshop, participants engage in interactive exercises including peer coaching, case discussions, and experience sharing.

Participants leave the workshop with First 90 Days Transition Plans.

2-Day Workshop

The 2-Day workshop provides the same high-impact transition support as the 1-day workshop, with the addition of teaching essential leadership competencies.

The 2-Day workshop is ideal for new managers or managers who have not yet solidified managerial competencies associated with successful transitions.

Process Description—The First 90 Days 1-Day Workshop

The process of getting up to speed in a new role happens over time. Our classic workshop starts with The First 90 Days Resource Portal, access to which is given to employees as soon as a job offer is accepted. Through the Resource Portal, the new leader can access readings, videos, tools, and pre-work. They then participate in an in-person workshop as soon as feasible — ideally one to three months into their new jobs.

Participants access resources to support their transitions as soon as they enter their new roles, including:

  • Key concept videos and readings
  • The First 90 Days Launch Resources
  • Workshop preparation tasks
In-Person Workshop 1-Day Workshop

The 1-Day Workshop guides leaders through our First 90 Days Transition Roadmap framework and tools to diagnose their situations, define their challenges, and design plans to deliver results. Participants engage in an interactive classroom experience, including case discussions, assessment exercises, and peer coaching. Experienced Genesis Advisers facilitators help participants crystallize their goals, clarify strategies, build their teams, identify early-win opportunities, and determine alliance-building priorities.

Building Support Networks Participant-organized Connection Sessions

  • Peer Reconnect. Participants support each other in building and aligning their teams around mission, vision, strategy, and key early-win projects.
  • Sponsor Connect. Participants schedule progress reviews with managers and HR partners as appropriate.
Optional 1-on-1 Coaching Post-workshop Coaching

All Genesis Advisers facilitators have a deep understanding of leadership transitions and are Certified First 90 Days coaches. Some or all of the participants can engage in one-on-one coaching with the facilitator after the workshop to further refine their First 90 Days Transition Plans. This can include a 360 assessment to give in-depth feedback.

Optional Virtual Reconnect Session 60-minute Reconnection/Reinforcement Session

A final 60-minute interactive webinar can be run by the workshop facilitator to reinforce key concepts and allow participants to assess their progress and adjust their approach.
